Barcelona Vs Valencia – Lionel Messi scores to secure win

Lionel Messi at its best managed to score a penalty making Barcelona to move to the top of the table as they ended up beating Valencia with a score of 3-2 at the Mestalla on 22nd October.


Lionel Messi opened the account of th score in the very first half as the visitors seems to be on the lower side, the captain, Andres Iniesta got injured in beginning of the match but that doesn’t put a break on the speed of Barca.


Munir El Haddadi hit a low sound strike that past Marc-Andre ter Stegen as soon as the break got over, before Valencia’s forward Rodrigo could make the score equalize, rest a lofted pass did from Nani former Manchester United player.



The match ended in a controversy as home fans were upset with the loss, this made some fans to throw water bottle on Barca’s players, Neymar got hit  by a bottle. Luis Suarez marked the beginning towards the win well in order to bring the champions level just after Diego Alves could be able to push Ivan Rakitic’s header straight into their way. Lionel Messi’s late penalty made Barca to win it in dramatic way.


Joao Cancelo and Nani made tremendous effort to make their first win over Barcelona at home after 2007 but soon they seemed to be deflected from the approach as they opted to get more physical.


Around the 10th minute it was Iniesta who was challenged to face the physical game after making his way in between the midfielder’s of  Valencia he was bought to his knees by Perez.


Ivan Rakitic was bought into the attack in place of Iniesta and soon he contributed in the very first goal of the game just after some minutes.


Initially, the Valencia forward try to break the Barcelona’s defence with only Ter Stegen to overcome and he ended up lashing the ball far. He should have scored for this team, followed by Luis Suarez who missed a great opportunity to score a goal.

Just when the first half was about to over, Neymar attempted to score for Barcelona and take the advantage with an over-head kick but it was all in vain as the ball went over the bar.


The things Cesare Prandelli said to his Valencia players during the break seems to work for them as players were trying to do the same and soon they equalized the score.


Valencia soon started to  lead themselves over Barcelona when Nani passed a lofted shot in the way of Rodrigo who moved into the penalty area to boost home.


Barcelona came back into the act as corner by Rakitic did the trick. Nani could have scored a third goal for his team but his strike went wide of the goal.


As Barcelona players were celebrating, the home crowd turned wilder, Suarez and Neymar went down covering their head after they were smashed by water bottles from the crowd.
